Nike, K Swiss Make An Entry Into The Billion Dollar Esports Industry

K-Swiss has recently launched a sneaker design which is going to be exclusive and limited-edition. It has been made specifically to cater to esports players. The brand has claimed that this shoe worth $125 will be a revolution in the shoe industry. The sneaker design is being called “One-Tap” and has been brought to existence by collaborating with IGC or Immortals Gaming Club, which is an esports firm. This show guarantees an enhancement in the performance of esports players.

Esports, which is short for electronic sports, is the gaming form where professional teams or individuals compete against oppositions in multiplayer type of video games. These competitions have been gaining traction in the form of spectator sports all over the world. Experts have estimated esports will be generating north of $1 billion of revenue in 2019.

The slip-on form of sneaker from K-Swiss will be featuring flexible and lightweight material, accompanied by elasticated closure to present a “snug fit.” There will also be a unit for venting which will make it breathable in hotter climates, along with an insole which will be wool-lined to be inserted into the shoes to make them feel warmer. Further, gamers will be able to fold down heels of the sneakers to get the feel of a slipper during long hours of a practice or a match.

Currently, the shoes of One-Tap are fashioned in silver and black. These are made in Brazil’s colors, which are a team of IGC competing professionally in the internet-based game called “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.” A crest of Brazil will also be seen on the shoe’s foldable heel. On Wednesday, K-Swiss’s president, Barney Waters spoke to CNBC through email and communicated that nearly half of stocks of One-Tap was sold out in an hour following the launch of the product on Wednesday.
